Promised jobs in police dept, aspirants get swindled of Rs 18 cr

Bengaluru: The CCB has brisked up probe and arrested four persons in connection to a massive Rs 18 cr fraud case.

Several gullible job aspirants were swindled off money by promising jobs in the police department. The lid blew off the fraud case with the arrest of CAR constable Lakshmikanth, who revealed names of Inspector K P Rajesh, personal assistant to former DGPs H Nagaraj, traffic constable Shabana Begum and CAR constable Lokesh.

The accused were all arrested and interrogated in connection to allegation that several persons were cheated by them between 2013-2017. The accused had taken about Rs 10 lac to Rs 30 lac from each person depending on the position promised in police department.

The sources have said that there is suspicion of IAS and IPS officers having been involved in the case.

It is said that Lokesh and Lakshmikanth picked up a quarrel when couple of people who could not get a job startered pestering Lokesh for refund and a frightened Lokesh first complained against Lakshmikanth exposing the fraud of Rs 18 cr.
