Bengaluru: Actor Prakash Raj, who has been a vocal critic of the Modi-led Central government, launched his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Friday, January 25. He had announced his intention to contest the general elections from the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency a few weeks ago.
After offering prayers at a Darga in Shivajinagar, the actor and his supporters ventured into the narrow lanes of the area and met the people.
Terming his campaign as ‘seeking citizens manifesto’, Raj said that his was not like any run-of-the-mill political campaign. Elaborating, he said that he was walking the lanes that no politician would have, in order to garner inputs for his manifesto. As for the response to his campaign, Raj said that the people were convinced by his approach and that he feels empowered by this.
Raj is a well-known actor in the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi film industries. His star power aside, his being vocal about the rising intolerance in the country is what has garnered many supporters for him. He is also well-known for his #justasking online campaign where he raises questions on various issues.
