Bengaluru: A resort which has often been a part of major political development, be it safeguarding the Congress MP of Gujarat or safeguarding the Congress-Janata Dal (S) MLAs from ‘Operation Lotus’ during the state government formation. Now Eagleton Resort is yet again in news but this time it is for land encroachment.
The issue of land encroachment by Eagleton Resort had recently resonated in the Belagavi winter session in which it was stated that because of encroachment, the government was deprived of Rs 998 Crore .
Though the court has ordered the payment of the land amount the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that the state government has no interest in recovering the said amount.
It was also observed during the winter sessions Revenue Minister R V Deshpande was uncomfortable replying to the questions posed in this regard by the opposition party.
Ironically, the Congress MLAs are now made to stay in the same resort from Friday, January 18 evening, fearing ‘Operation Lotus.’
The resort is spread across 77 acres of land amounting to Rs 998 Crore.
Yet again, this issue has now been raised by the BJP also attacking the Congress on Twitter.
