Bengaluru: Two men who had allegedly abducted a 28-year-old swimming coach on Ksavanahalli Main Road, Whitefield, on March 18 were shot in their legs on Monday after they stabbed a policeman.

Around 4 a.m. on Monday, they were spotted travelling in a car on Sarjapura Road. The police set off in chase and caught up with them near the BMTC quarters at Kodathi in Bellandur. Despite warnings, the accused got down from the car and stabbed a constable, Mahantesh, said the police.

As they tried to escape, police fired two rounds at the duo.

The operation was led by Inspector Victor Simon from Bellandur police station and Sub-Inspector Somashekar from Whitefield police station.

On March 18, the accused had forcefully dragged a teacher walking on Kasavanahalli road into their car and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The woman was able to escape from the moving car. She was later admitted to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
