Bengaluru: The Rajagopal Nagar police are narrowing down on those who murdered former Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike corporator and JD(S) leader Govinde Gowda, 58, at Hegganahalli cross on Saturday.
The assailants chased and hacked Govinde Gowda to death at Hegganahalli near Rajagopalnagar on Saturday evening when he was making arrangements for Sunday’s JD(S) meeting in Tumakuru.
At least three persons have been detained as suspects, and a police officer said formal arrests would be made soon. “The reason is old rivalry, with one gang taking revenge for a hit ordered by Gowda in 2016 on a politician,” said the police. In November 2016, Gowda and his wife were arrested for allegedly hiring nine hitmen to kill Chikka Thimme Gowda, a local BJP leader.
