Bengaluru: As many as 119 candidates who were supposed to appear for the civil police constable examinations on Monday, November 22 are now in jail for allegedly trying to engage in the malpractice to get through the examination. Most of these candidates are the college students. All started on Saturday, November 24 when a CCB team from Bengaluru carried out a raid in Kalmata, near Hassan, following a tip-off that Shivakumar Swamy, who was arrested earlier over II PUC final examination question paper leak case is holding a mock test in a remote village of the district for constable post aspirants.

Swamy who had secured the question papers charged Rs.2 lakh per candidate for holding the mock test with the real question papers and 119 candidates came forward to write the mock examination conducted by Shivakumar Swamy. With the raid, all the 119 candidates have been sent to jail.

“Among 119, nine have been taken to CCB custody for further investigation. All the accused, who are in the age group of 21-years and below have been lodged at the Parappana Agrahara jail,” said a police officer.

“This incident is a black spot on the state police department as Swamy, a habitual offender was able to get access to the highly secured question papers prepared for the written test. The CCB wants to take this to a logical end,” he explained.

“As per the law, those who buy question papers are also considered as accused. An FIR has been registered against all these 119 candidates. Their future looks very bleak,” he added.
