Bengaluru: The Seshadripuram police arrested two persons for assaulting a taxi driver on Saturday night.
The police have identified the accused as Paramveer Singh, 34, from Himachal Pradesh and Auchi Thakur, 26, from Delhi.
The police said the accused are residents of Seshadripuram and have been staying in the city for the last seven years. The duo booked the cab from Hebbal to Palace Guttahalli.
The driver Jagadish, 40, brought them to their destination and asked them to get down. But the accused asked him to take them to Seshadripuram. Jagadish told them that since it is an app-based taxi, they have to book it again and he can’t go any further.
The duo began to shout and asked him to drop them further. The police said the duo got agitated hurled abuses and assaulted him when he told them he does not understand Hindi and asked them to talk in local language.
The cab driver called the police helpline and a Hoysala reached the spot and brought all the three to Sheshadripuram police station.
The victim filed a case against Singh and Thakur, who were arrested and later released on bail.
