Police arrest main accused in ex-minister Varthur Prakash’s abduction case

varthur prskash 25012021Bengaluru: The Kolar Police arrested Rohith, accused no 1 in the abduction of former minister Varthur Prakash.

A resident of Hosur in Tamil Nadu, Rohith was arrested by an investigation team from the Kolar Rural Police Station.

With this, the police have arrested a total of seven persons in connection with the case.

The police are expecting the motive behind the abduction of the former minister after Rohith is interrogated. Several theories have already been floated about the motive behind the incident.

It can be recalled that Varthur Prakash, who was a minister in the BJP government in 2008, was abducted on November 25, 2020 when he was in his farmhouse in Kolar. The abductors allegedly tortured him and his driver before releasing them two days later.

Prakash filed a complaint with the police on December 2, 2020, where he alleged that the perpetrators demanded a ransom of Rs 30 crores.
