Bengaluru: In this day and age of easily accessible technology, it has become easier for people to voice their opinions, happiness and disappointment about various topics. While some choose to voice their disappointment and disapproval over the ending of their favourite show, some others talk about more pertinent issues.

One such pertinent issue is new Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna’s decision to step down to make way for his grandfather, JDS supremo H D Devegowda, who lost the Tumakuru seat in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. His announcement in this regard came not even 24 hours after his victory was announced.

Using #PrajwalRevanna, the Twitterati are taking turns calling out the JDS, HDD and his family for Prajwal’s move. Some have questioned whether the JDS consider the people’s mandate a joke, while some others have questioned the motive behind Prajwal’s gesture.

One Twitter user with the handle @VenkataChinta asks, “#Prajwalrevanna Not even sworn-in…how will he resign? Will he or JDS pay the re-election expenses? (sic)”

Twitter user Vidyadhar Hatpakki asked, “#PrajwalRevanna offering to resign to get grand father elected. Is the country affairs family business? who will pay for the re-election expenses? (sic)”

User Anil tweeted, “Someone tell #Prajwalrevanna that this is not Vokkaligara Sangha elections. People have voted and it’s in best interest that mandate is respected. (sic)”

Some users called Prajwal out for his “shameful” act and urged that the JDS show “respect for the people’s mandate”.

Yet another Twitter user tweeted, “@PrajwalRevanna it’s really shameful that people gave mandate in your favor and you are still following dynastic type of thinking,it’s not about your grandfather it’s about the seat you won and justice with the people of that constituency. (sic)”

Many on Facebook have also expressed their anger over the same.

Senior journalist and political analyst Preethi Nagaraj, in her FB post said, “If Prajwal resigns, the entire expenses of imminent by-poll should be recovered by the party/family.”
