Parents May Be Allowed Into Wards During Third Wave

Bengaluru: Whenever the predicted third wave hits, parents of infected children may be allowed to Covid wards apart from the doctors and other medical staff.

This follows reports that age group below 18 years may be more vulnerable to Covid during the third wave. The State Government’s Health and Family Welfare Department is considering allowing parents into the paediatric Covid-19 wards.

According to sources, in a recent meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee for Covid and the task force constituted to study the expected third wave it came up for discussion and how it would be prudent to allow parents of children below teenage to the Covid wards to make managing children’s easy for hospital staff.

In this background, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is also planning to train parents along with nursing staff to handle children in Covid wards.
