Our dream is to make India world’s ‘Hindutva capital’: Ananth Kumar Hegde

Bengaluru: Member of Parliament Ananth Kumar Hegde, who is known for making controversial remarks on several issues, has yet again made a sensational comment over the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

Addressing the gathering at a programme called “Mathe Mathe Savarkar” on Saturday, February 1, he said, “The Central Government has the power to quash any anti-national policies and movements. But, the Centre is not doing so through the CAA because it wants even the last ‘rat’ to come out from its hole. If a certain section of the society believes that getting involved in anti-national movements and placing bombs throughout the nation is a mark of ‘independence’, then the country’s security will be at stake.”

“The implementation of CAA has helped us differentiate between ‘nationalists’ and ‘anti-nationals’, ‘patriot’ and ‘traitor’ etc. It has also helped unmask the so-called progressive thinkers from academic institutions. It is strange to see that our country has given freedom to people to debate on nationalism because there are some intellects who have created a lot of controversies from the same. If these people have the guts, let them go to countries like Pakistan, America, Russia etc. and speak about nationalism, they will know the consequences then,” he added.

Further lambasting the ‘anti-nationals’ Hegde said, “Our dream should be to make India the ‘Hindutva Capital’ of the world. People who cannot digest this can be neglected. The leftists’ wives themselves don’t subscribe to their ideology. Hence they should not be taken into consideration. There are people who take this time as an opportunity and use it as a weapon against the country while they cannot get a hold of actual weapons.”
