Bengaluru: When former Primary and Secondary Education Minister N Mahesh had proposed an Open-Book Examination, nearly one-year-ago, with the idea of reducing examination pressure on children, it led to a heated debate. Now, the new Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar has stated that the proposal is still under consideration and the government is planning to implement it, keeping in mind the interests of students.
Speaking to reporters in Chamarajanagar, Kumar said, “We are open to this concept. Our aim is to bring down the pressure on students.”
His statement came in the midst of a section of parents and academicians opposing the proposal and claiming that the school system is not ready for such a major reform.
