Bengaluru: The state government announced a day’s holiday for all schools, colleges and government offices in honour of the recently departed Girish Karnad. It also announced a three-day mourning period.
In a series of tweets, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy informed that the holiday and mourning period were announced, keeping in mind Karnad’s contribution to the Kannada language and Culture.

He also stated a state funeral will be accorded to Karnad.
According to the authorities, however, schools, colleges and government offices are functioning as usual, as the government is yet to issue an official order in this regard.
