Old habits die hard: Major irrigation minister Ramesh Jarakiholi threatens to quit

Bengaluru: During the JD(S)-Congress coalition government, the then minister for municipal administration Ramesh Jarakiholi was in the news almost every day as he kept threatening to resign as a pressure tactic. Later, he was dropped from the Cabinet for issuing such threats frequently.

It now looks like Jarakiholi has started the same pressure tactics. He has not even been a minister in the newly-expanded state Cabinet for one month and is already threatening to resign. This time, he has issued this threat because Athani MLA Mahesh Kumatalli was not inducted into the Cabinet.

Speaking to reporters in Gokak, he stated that he will not allow Mahesh to be treated in an unjust manner. “He is also a contributor to the BJP’s being able to form the government in the state. So, he must be rewarded by being made a minister,” he urged.

“I will quit from my post as minister if Kumatalli is not inducted into the Cabinet soon. It is in my nature. I will always side with the truth,” he said.
