Bengaluru: The District Surveillance Unit of the Health Department has issued a notice to an apartment located near Sarjapur Road, after a Bengaluru techie tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after going to Hyderabad.

Addressed to the apartment association’s president, the letter states, “The District surveillance Unit Bangalore Urban has received information regarding Positive COVID 19 case resided in your apartment at Flat no-X. So we are required to conduct Surveillance activities in your apartment for which your co-operation is required.”

The coronavirus-affected techie, who is a native of Hyderabad, had reportedly stayed at the Bengaluru apartment for a few days after returning from Dubai. Later, he took a bus from the city to travel back to his hometown.

Speaking to TNM, District Health Officer Dr Prakash said, “We are carrying out surveillance in the area. We have identified 90 houses in the vicinity and have already visited 40 households. In each house, we are checking for symptoms like sneezing, sore throat or body ache and others. If they exhibit any of these, then we have to refer them to the hospital. If they have any symptoms, they have been advised to stay in home quarantine for the next 28 days.”

Apartment residents confirmed that DHO officials had visited the building on Tuesday, March 3, and requested the building occupants to get themselves tested at a nearby public health centre for precaution.

Suspected of contracting the virus in Dubai, the health officials are monitoring the colleagues and people who were in touch with the coronavirus patient.

Dubai-B’luru Indigo flight crew quarantined

Meanwhile, four crew members of Indigo flight 6E 96 (Dubai-Bengaluru) have been placed under home observation as it was the same flight in which the Telegana coronavirus patient travelled.

Indigo airlines put out a statement saying that they were following all guidelines prescribed by the Airport Health Organisation
