The police nabbed the accused in Pondicherry on Saturday night and the accused will be produced in the court by evening, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police M N Anucheth.

It may be recalled that self-styled numerologist was arrested recently by the police for cheating and molesting a married woman. However, the accused escaped during the police inquiry.

According to the police, the woman enrolled in two courses about a year ago to learn numerology from Aryavardhan Guruji who runs the Aryavardhan Numerology Office in KG Nagar. She paid Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 24,000, respectively, for the two courses. The numerologist promised to refund the fee if the courses did not benefit her, the woman said in her complaint to the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police.

It was said that she attended classes for a few months but realised that the courses were of little use to her. She told Aryavardhan that she would discontinue and asked him to refund the fee. The numerologist reportedly refused to refund the fee, leading to an argument between the two.

On August 11, the woman and her husband went to Aryavardhan’s flat in an apartment complex in Rajarajeshwari Nagar to seek the refund. The numerologist made sexual advances at her, held her hand and misbehaved with her, the woman said in the complaint.

The police have booked Aryavardhan under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
