Bengaluru: State Dharmika Parishat headed by mujarai minister has decided to introduce Sanskrit and Veda classes to all the castes in the state too. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the parishat on Saturday.
According to the decision, the state government has decided to set up Sanskrit and Veda schools in five selected temples owned by the department which includes Kollur Mukambika, Kukke Subramanya, Kateel Durgaparameshwari, Savadatti Yallamma and Devarayana Durga temples.
As per the decision, priests from all the castes will be trained in these schools and later they will be appointed in the mujarai temples. “Schools will start functioning from the year 2018-19,” said an officer.
“In each school, 30 candidates will be admitted. Duration of the course and other details will be decided by a panel of experts of the parishat,” sources confirmed.
Meanwhile, the parishat also has dropped the proposal of making dress code mandatory for the entrance to the various majurai temples following stiff resistance from the general public.
It can be recalled that dalit and OBC priests were appointed to the various government-owned temples in Kerala.
