Non submission of property details: 32 corporators face threat of disqualification

Bengaluru: Aa many as 32 corporators of the BBMP are facing the threat of disqualification as they didn’t submit their property details to the Mayor on time.

Anil Shetty, president Nava Bharati Democratic party had approached the Bengaluru regional commissioner’s office in this regard. He collected details in this regard via Right to Information Act.

As per the rule, the corporators must submit their property details by July end every year. These 32 corporators didn’t submit the details on time. As per the act, the state government can disqualify these corporators.

According to the sources, 14 corporators in the year 2016, and 16 corporators in 2017 didn’t submit their property details on time. Two corporators furnished false information taking the total number to 32.

Mayor Gangambika Mallikarjun confirmed that she received a letter in this regard from the Regional Commissioner’s office. “I am holding a meeting with the legal cell officers of the BBMP on Thursday to take a decision,” she said.
