Bengaluru: JDS state president H Vishwanath stated that the JDS will not tie up with the Congress party in the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) polling which is held on May 31.
The party, instead, has decided to fight alone in all the 22 districts including Dakshina Kannada, where the party is not very strong.
Speaking to reporters in the city, he stated that the alliance is limited only to the Lok Sabha elections. “In other elections, we don’t want any alliance. But we are open to a post-poll alliance like what happened in the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC),” he said.
He also blamed former CM Siddaramaiah for the JDS’ poor performance in 2018 Assembly elections. “He repeatedly referred to us as the BJP’s B team. It affected our performance,” he said.
Speaking about the chatter surrounding the Chief Minister’s post, Vishwanath said that there is no question of replacing HD Kumaraswamy. “He will complete his term,” he said.
“Even if all the like-minded MLAs join hands, the Congress’ strength will not touch 113. Siddaramaiah has no chance of becoming CM again,” he assured.
