Bengaluru: Whatever the result of the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, H D Kumaraswamy will continue as the Chief Minister for five years. There is no question of pulling out of the coalition government. The Congress state leaders must accept this fact and work with the JDS. This was the clear message given by AICC president Rahul Gandhi to the Karnataka Congress leaders during the closed-door meeting held on Sunday.

During this meeting, which lasted for more than 45 minutes, RaGa expressed confidence that the UPA will return to power at the Centre. “But whatever the election results may be, we need to go with the JDS in Karnataka. It is a five-year agreement,” he explained to the state leaders.

He also asked the leaders to ensure that the BJP will not be successful in toppling the government.

He then directed former CM Siddaramaiah to convene the coordination committee meeting at regular intervals to ensure the smooth functioning of the government.

AICC Karnataka in-charge K C Venugopal was also present on the occasion.
