Bengaluru: Minister for Food and Civil supplies, Umesh Katti, stated that the state government will cancel the BPL cards if a family owns a TV, fridge, or two wheelers.

According to the minister, thousands of families are misusing the BPL cards which are linked to all government welfare schemes including free health insurance.

“We can’t provide BPL cards if the family annual income is over Rs.1.20 lakhs,” he stated.

“We are appealing all ineligible card holders to return their BPL cards before March 31. Else legal action will be initiated against those who are misusing it,” he said.
