Bengaluru: KN Rajanna, former MLA of Madhugiri and a senior Congress leader from Tumakuru has stated that Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s decision to snap his engagement with a Vokkaliga sub-caste girl resulted in the defeat of his grandfather HD Deve Gowda in Tumakuru.
Speaking to the reporters, Rajanna, a staunch critic of Deve Gowda family said Nikhil Kumaraswamy snapped his engagement with a Kunchitigara Vokkaliga sub caste girl. “It hurt the people of the community, who are in a large number in the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency,” he said.
He also slammed HD Deve Gowda for his decision to contest from the Tumakuru. “He wanted to destroy the political career of SP Muddahanumegowda, incumbent MP and a Congress leader. But it backfired,” he said.
