Bengaluru: As part of the upgradation project, the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway will be converted into the Bengaluru-Bantwal National Highway and for this, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be ridding the stretch of an estimated 1,615 trees.
Considering the implications of such a step, the authority has invited objections to the removal of the trees in a statement released by the Department of Information and Public Relations on Friday, May 18.
The public can file their objections to the removal of the trees along the stretch of the highway between Ramanagaram and Mandya by May 25 along with relevant documents.
The trees to be removed have already been identified by the NHAI and will invite tenders for the project. Clearance for the authority to remove the trees has already been received and the NHAI will be taking measures to plant new saplings along the upgraded stretch.
