Bengaluru: The National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) direction on rejuvenating the highly polluted Bellandur lake is all set to hit tech majors including Infosys, Honeywell, Bosch, Wipro, government owned National Aerospace Laboratory, HAL, ISRO etc. On Wednesday, state pollution control board issued directions to 488 industries including these companies to shut their operations till joint inspection of the effluent divisions of the companies are inspected.

All the companies were listed as functioning in the lake catchment area. According to the State Pollution Control Board Chairman Lakshman, the NGT has directed the Board not to allow companies to operate till joint inspection is carried out. As per the order this decision has been taken.

All started with media reports on fire in the Bellandur lake in the second week of April, following which the NGT on April 20 directed KSPCB to close down all those industries polluting the lake. It was also directed for joint inspection of all pollutant industries. Based on this order 488 companies have been issued showcause notice.
