Bengaluru: In a move which is expected to bring a smile back on the faces of cinema lovers, the state legal meteorology department and the department of commercial tax has asked all multiplexes to adhere to the MRP rules.
According to Nitesh Patil, additional director, Department of Commercial Tax and Ramaiah, Deputy Controller, Department of Legal Meteorology, all the multiplexes are barred from collecting excess charges from the consumers on eatables, water and other commodities bought at the multiplexes.
According to Ramaiah, Deputy Controller, Department of Legal Meteorology, 42 cases have already been registered against multiplexes for collecting extra charges from the consumers. “Our drive will continue,” he stated.
