Bengaluru: Ahead of the Karnataka Legislative Council elections scheduled on February 17, Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi and an independent candidate Anil Kumar had filed their nominations recently. But Anil Kumar withdrew his nomination on Saturday, February 15.
As per electoral procedure, the defeated candidate, who is about to be made a minister, should contest in an election within a month. Since the previous MLC, Rizwan Arshad was elected as an MLA from the Congress party recently, the post fell vacant.
In view of this development, DCM Laxman Savadi and independent candidate Anil Kumar filed their respective nominations.
Now, after Anil Kumar’s withdrawal from the race, DCM Laxman Savadi’s chance of winning the election just became higher.
