Bengaluru: State health minister Dr K Sudhakar expressed displeasure over the state election commission’s decision to hold Grama Panchayat polls by the month’s end.
“Experts were against the holding of elections as it may result in the spread of coronavirus. So, we had suggested a postponement of the elections till March, but our suggestions were not taken into consideration,” he lamented.
He also stated that his department had written a letter to the election commission in this regard. “But it was not taken into consideration,” he added.
It can be recalled that in Karnataka, the Grama Panchayat elections are scheduled to be held on December 22 and 27.
