Bengaluru: A post by Kerala Tourism about a signature Kerala dish ‘Beef Ularthiyathu’, has made way for controversy with many taking exceptions to the post that came up on ‘Makara Sankranthi’.

Voicing his opposition was Karnataka Minister CT Ravi; however, Ravi invited the anger of trolls when he ended up retweeting the Kerala Tourism post with the caption – Welcome to Karnataka #KarnatakaTourism#OneStateManyWorlds.

It looks like the Minister goofed up and the troll army instantly attacked him stating how he could support an anti-Hindu culture of consuming beef.

Without any further delay, the Minister tweeted, “Welcome to Karnataka #KarnatakaTourism#OneStateManyWorlds”, with an image of a platter filled with famous vegetarian delicacies from Karnataka.

The Minister also questioned Twitterati as to how they could even assume that he would support anti-Hindu culture. “It is against my belief system. I was taking a sarcastic dig at Kerala Tourism,” the Minister said.

The original post from the Kerala Tourism twitter handle featured a photo of Beef Ularthiyathu as well as its recipe.

“Tender chunks of beef, slow-roasted with aromatic spices, coconut pieces, and curry leaves. A recipe for the most classic dish, Beef Ularthiyathu, the stuff of legends, from the land of spices,” reads the post.

Many felt that the post was not in good taste and hurt Hindu sentiments.

Right-wing activist Rahul Eshwar said: “Dear @KeralaTourism ; pls avoid posting abt Pork on Eid & Beef on Makara Sankranthi days. Pls be culturally sensitive abt special holy days of all faiths. Pls showcase our Food diversity without offending sensitivities.”
