Bengaluru: State government had repeatedly assured that much delayed Green Line Metro service between Nagasandra and Kanakapura road will be thrown open from November 1, 2016. But till now there are no signs of the same chugging off. But a social media post made by former urban development minister, MLA and BJP leader, this line may be opened up for the public use only from June. Two statements issued by Suresh Kumar, who is part of a high-level delegation which reviewed the Metro work progress recently under the chairmanship of Bangalore Development Minister KJ George has led to new speculation. Suresh Kumar has stated that Rajajinagar-Majestic route may become functional by the first week of June, this year and orders for the much sought after “6 coaches” (train) have been placed. It will take 10-12 months for the supply.
Both these statements have gained importance due to several reasons. According to the reliable sources, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has already started the safety inspection on green line. But it has failed to ensure early completion of the project due to several issues raised by the safety commissioner. This has delayed the project completion. BMRCL officials are not committing to any new deadline.
Six coaches train is one of the major demands of the metro commuters with special coaches for women passengers. But BMRCL could not be able to fulfill this demand of special coaches for women passengers due to the shortage of six coaches trains.
