Bengaluru: President of the Basava Dharma Peeta at Koodala Sangama, Mathe Mahadevi (73) passed away here on Thursday, March 14.
Dr. Sudarshan Ballal of Manipal Hospital had released a health bulletin couple of hours ago stating that, she was facing multiple organ failure and had reached the stage of coma.
She was suffering from kidney failure and respiratory issues for which she was admitted to the Manipal Hospital located on HAL road on March 9.
Mathe Mahadevi was known for organising Sharana Samelana.
She is also known for her longest written work on ‘Basava Tatva.’
Mathe Mahadevi was the first woman guru to decorate the chair of Akka Mahadevi Ashram in Dharwad.
She was in the forefront of the separate Lingayat religion movement and a good orator.
She was born on March 13, 1946.
