Bengaluru: Chandrasekhara Patil, a well-known writer, on Friday threatened of launching a massive agitation by Jana Samanya Paksha if political parties failed to resolve Kalasa-Banduri issue by January 15.

Patil was speaking at a meeting organised by Jana Samanyara Vedike and Kalasa-Banduri Struggle Committee at the Town Hall in Bengaluru.

He said people in the Uttara Karnataka have been facing many problems and among them, Kalasa-Banduri is the one which needs to be addressed on a priority basis.

“All political parties have neglected Uttara Karnataka for decades. It is very unfortunate to know that these political parties have not done anything to solve the problems in the region. It is very important for the three major political parties to join hands to solve the problem but each of them thinks that party is very important for them than finding a solution to Kalasa-Banduri issue,’’ he said.

Emphasising the need to find solution for the problems, he said Jana Samanyara Paksha would organize a massive agitation if the political parties failed to find a solution.

“Jana Samanyara Paksha will field candidates in 224 constituencies for the forthcoming Assembly elections,’’ he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Kulkarni, president, Kalasa Banduri Kendra Yuva Samiti, has alleged that three major political parties have neglected Kalasa-Banduri issue. “Their negligence has compelled us to find a solution on our own. In this backdrop, Jana Samanyara Vedike came into existence. Farmers will contest on behalf of Jana Samanyara Paksha in the next Assembly elections from 224 constituencies,’’ Kulkarni said.

Dr. Siddaramaiah Swamji of Naganuru Rudrakshi Math, Belagavi, opined the government’s bias in developing North Karnataka has led people demand for separate state. “All political parties that come to power have been neglecting North Karnataka region. These political parties do not give importance for developmental works in North Karnataka on par with South Karnataka region,’’ Dr Siddaramaiah Swamiji said.

Dr Ayyappa, president, Jana Samanyara Vedike, blamed politicians for not taking measures to fix the problems in North Karnataka. “Our objective is to expose politicians and respond to people’s problems,’’ Dr Ayyappa said.
