Mangaluru: A skull of a woman stuffed in a gunny bag was found near Kadri Park on Sunday, May 12.
The victim has been identified as Shreemathi Shetty (40), a resident of Amar Alva Road. She is a divorcee and her husband is in judicial custody in a theft case at Mangaluru South police station.
It is suspected that miscreants have murdered Shreemathi Shetty at another location and may have disposed the skull near Kadri Park. The incident came to light when some locals found the gunny bag with blood stains. Immediately, Mangaluru East police rushed to the spot and shifted the skull to Wenlock Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, some chopped parts of the body were found in Nandigudda graveyard. Surprisingly, a burqa was also found near the chopped body parts.
Mangaluru East police registered a case in this regard and started the probe. Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil informed that three police teams have been already formed in this regard to conduct an investigation. Meanwhile, a CCTV footage showing a man on a two-wheeler dumping the bag at Kadri is in possession of the police.
It can be recalled that a 28-year-old person was found murdered at a park near State Bank area on May 8. Though police traced the identity of the person as Sharath of Ballalbagh, the culprits were not traced so far. Now, it is the second incident of murder in the last four days in city.
