Bengaluru: A 38-year-old businessman, identified as Muniyappa, shot and killed his childhood friend Ramesh (a cab driver) after having an affair with the latter’s wife, according to a report by TOI.

Speaking to New Indian Express, a senior police officer said that Muniyappa shot and killed Ramesh with a double-barrel gun as the latter was strolling in front of his house while on a phone call.

The police were alerted by neighbours who witnessed the incident.

Initial investigations into the incident revealed that Muniyappa had been having an affair with Ramesh’s wife Kalavathi (24) and had susbsequently eloped to a nearby village, almost a year ago. However, Muniyappa returned to the city to celebrate Dasara without Kalavathi. Upon hearing the news of his return, Ramesh approached Muniyappa and hurled abuses at him in the presence of the latter’s relatives.

Infuriated by this, Muniyappa took the gun, that officially belongs to his father, and shot the victim.

Police have arrested Muniyappa, his close associate Krishnamurthy, Kalavathi and his father, Venkatappa in connection with the murder.
