Man arrested for demanding bribe from NRI to skip quarantine

Bengaluru: The Upparpet police arrested a person for allegedly demanding bribe from an NRI in lieu of exemption from institutional quarantine.

Arrested person is Krishnegowda, a resident of Byatarayanapura. He allegedly demanded money from an NRI so that the latter does not serve the quarantine period.

It is said that 55-years-old Krishnegowda was demanding Rs.25,000 bribe per person. Based on the complaint lodged by a doctor, the police arrested the accused.

The police has launched an investigation to ascertain if the hotel owners are also a part of this nexus.

This incident has sent shockwaves across the state as it was alleged that many persons left the quarantine facility using their money power.
