Makara Sankranti: KSRTC to operate 650 extra buses

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has made arrangements for operating 650 extra buses in view of the Makara Sankranti festival from January 13 to 14. Later, special buses will be operated from various places of Intra & Interstate to Bengaluru on January 15.

KSRTC to operate 1200 to 1300 extra buses for Ganesha festival-1Special buses will be exclusively operated from Bengaluru Kempegowda Bus Station to Dharmastala, Kukkesubramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubballi, Dharawad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupathi, Pavagada, Hosadurga and other places.

Special buses from Mysuru Road Bus Station will be exclusively operated towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar and Madikeri routes. All premier special buses will be operated from Shanthinagar BMTC Bus Stand to Madurai, Kumbakonam, Trichy, Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupathi, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and other places in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Special buses with advance reservation will be operated from Vijayanagara, J.P.Nagar, Jayanagar 4th Block and 9th Block, Jalahalli Cross, Navarang(Rajajinagar), Malleshwaram 18th Cross, and Kengeri Satellite Town to Shivamogga, Davanagere, Tirupathi, Mangaluru, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu,

Kukkesubramanya, Dharmastala and other places based on the traffic potential.

Special buses towards North West Karnataka (Hubballi, Dharwar, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, etc.) having an advance reservation will be operated from Mysuru Road Bus Station. Buses without advance reservation will be operated from Kempegowda Bus Station. Special buses towards North East Karnataka (Kalaburagi, Ballari, Raichur, Hosapete, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, etc) having an advance reservation will be operated from Sri Basaweshwara Bus Station (Peenya). Buses without advance reservation will be operated from Kempegowda Bus Station.

The facility has been provided to book computerized reservation tickets in advance for the special buses.  Reserved passengers should note the place of boarding in their reservation ticket. Passengers can book tickets online by logging on to www.ksrtc.in. Advance reservation of tickets for the special and scheduled buses of KSRTC can be booked through 148 counters in Bengaluru City, 18 counters in Mysuru and 34 counters in Mangaluru and other 230 computerized reservation counters of KSRTC located at other places in Karnataka. A discount of 5% on the fare will be extended, if four or more passengers can book tickets in a single ticket and a discount of 10% is offered on the return journey ticket if onward and downward journey tickets are booked simultaneously.

Advance Reservation of tickets for the services of KSRTC can be booked through the booking counters established by KSRTC at important cities of neighbouring States i.e. Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Puducherry, Maharashtra and Goa. The details of the special operations like place and departure timings have been provided in the computerized advance reservation network and KSRTC website for the information of the traveling public. In addition to the above, special buses will be operated from all taluk/district bus stations in the jurisdiction of KSRTC based on the traffic needs.
