Bengaluru: In a surprise decision, major irrigation minister DK Shivakumar, who is widely considered as the person who saved the coalition government of the state led by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy from the BJP’s Operation Kamala multiple times has left for Australia for a vacation.
His close associates confirmed that he will not be in India on May 23, when the Lok Sabha election results will be declared.
“It is really surprising. If Modi returns to power on May 23, the BJP state unit will bring down the state government on the same day. In such a scenario, DKShi’s presence is required for counter strategies. But he has surprisingly opted for a vacation,” said a Congress leader.
“He is going on a week long vacation,” said sources close to DKShi.
