Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president B S Yeddyurappa on March 22 charged Water Resource Minister M B Patil with receiving Rs 25 crores kickback for awarding irrigation works worth Rs 159 crore.
Speaking to media representatives, Yeddyurappa said that Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam Limited has awarded the works related to Upper Bhadra project to a company called NPCC. The works have been awarded despite the company submitting fake experience certificates, he accused.
“The company had claimed that it has the experience in implementing such works in Tripura and Manipur States. But in reality, it is not so. Both Tripura and Manipur government have confirmed this fact,” he added.
Patil has awarded the works to the company overlooking this fact, Yeddyurappa said, and demanded that a CBI probe to bring out the truth.
