Bengaluru: After violence broke out in Bengaluru city on Tuesday night, a magisterial enquiry will be conducted into the incident, informed state home minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He added that as per the Supreme Court’s directions, recovery for loss to property should immediately be done from the miscreants involved.
Speaking to reporters, Bommai informed that a high-level meeting was held with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and it was decided that a magisterial enquiry will be conducted enquiry by the district executive magistrate in accordance with the National Human Rights Commission’s guidelines.
Bommai also informed that those involved in the incident are being identified and the total property loss is being assessed.
It can be recalled that on Tuesday night, violence broke out in the city after a Congress MLA’s relative uploaded a derogatory post on Prophet Muhammad. Several vehicles were vandalised and some were set on fire in the ensuing violence. The police resorted to opening fire on the rioting mob to bring the situation under control.
So far, 145 people have been arrested in connection with the riots.
