Bengaluru: In a big embarrassment to the JDS in Mandya, based on the complaint lodged by an election officer, an FIR has been registered against district in charge minister CS Puttaraju and former MP, activist G Madegowda based on leaked audio tape.
Madegowda was known as a Gandhian and the whole episode has dented his image built over the years.
According to the sources, the FIR has been registered at Mandya west police station.
“An FIR has been registered under section 171E of IPC,” said police sources.
It can be recalled that in the leaked audio tape Madegowda is heard demanding money for election expenses from CS Puttaraju. But Gowda himself, and other leaders including CM HD Kumaraswamy justified the demand of money for the expenses as there is a provision in the law for it.
