Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) which is investigating the murder case of activist and journalist Gauri Lankesh has dropped naxal angle to the murder.
A decision in this regard was taken by the SIT officials after forensic lab reports revealed that same revolver has been used in the murder of both M M Kalaburgi and Gauri Lankesh.
According to sources, SIT officials are now concentrating upon the possibility of involvement of hardcore fascist forces in the murder.
Meanwhile, the officials, on Thursday grilled a student who may have seen the murderers as he was seen walking on the road taken by them immediately after Lankesh’s murder. Even though the student initially declined that he had seen the bike riders he later agreed that he was walking on the same road after being shown CCTV footages.
“But as there was no power at that time he failed to note the color of the bike,” said sources.
