K’taka registers 10 new COVID-19 cases; State tally hits 98

Bengaluru: As many as ten news COVID-19 cases have been reported in Karnataka, as on March 31, taking the state tally to 98.

Out of the said ten new cases, three have been reported from Hosapete-Bellari, two from Bengaluru, one from Gauribidanur in Chikkaballapura, two from Mysuru and one each from Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts.

Details are as follows:

*In Hosapete-Bellari, a 52-year-old man, a 48-year-old woman and a 26-year-old lady who had travelled to Bengaluru on March 16 have been tested positive. They have been kept under isolation in a hospital in Bellari.

*In Bengaluru, a 40-year-old man, who had come in contact with P59 has been tested positive. Another 19-year-old youth who had returned to Bengaluru from New York on March 22 has been tested positive.

*A 40-year-old woman from Gauribidanur in Chikkaballapur has been tested positive.

*A 35-year-old man and a 41-year-old man, both hailing from Mysuru, who came in contact with P52 have been tested positive.

*In Dakshina Kannada district, a 34-year-old man with travel history to Dubai has been tested positive. 

*A 26-year-old man from Bhatkal with travel history to Dubai has been tested positive. 

The Commissionerate, Health & Family Welfare Services in their efforts for containment of COVID-19, has instructed all the private Hospitals to mandatorily report all Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases admitted under them to the District Surveillance Officer.   

The Commissionerate, Health & Family Welfare Services has given recommendations for empiric use of Hydroxy Chloroquine tablets for prophylaxis of SARS-CoV-2 and has instructed all the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the health workers are provided
with Hydoxy Chloroquine tablets.

All Cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) should be referred to District level hospital or medical college with ICU facility for clinical management.
