Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government, on Thursday, May 28, banned entry to people coming from five states namely Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Reportedly, the decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday. It was decided that flights and trains from any of these states would not be allowed to enter Karnataka. They will also not be allowed to enter the state by road.
The decision comes after the state has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases over the past few days, most of them being returnees from other states.
Karnataka has reported a total of 2,493 COVID-19 cases while Maharashtra has 56,948, Gujarat has over 15,000, Tamil Nadu has 18,545, Rajasthan has 7,703 and Madhya Pradesh has 7,261 cases.
