KSOU derecognition: With future in jeopardy, upset girl student hangs self

Bengaluru: The KSOU de-recognition row has claimed its first life in the state capital on Wednesday.

The victim, Sanjana (20), a resident of Gangadhar main road in Vijayanagara committed suicide after having alegedly gone into depresssion over the de-recognition of the KSOU by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Having failed in her II PUC examinations, Sanjana was pursuing animation and multimedia course at the KSOU. However, the courses pursued by her at KSOU did not hold any value after the de-recognition and she was unable to find a job. Sensing a troublesome future ahead the girl had slipped into depression and took the extreme step.

“She has committed suicide by hanging. She is the daughter of a close associate of a MLA,” police informed.

In his complaint, Sanjana’s father Venkatesh informed the police that on Wednesday too he had taken his daughter to a doctor for treatment for depression. “She was depressed following KSOU de-recognition issue. She had completed her degree in the multimedia and animation. Following the KSOU de-recognition she was not getting a job anywhere and went into depression,” he stated.
