Bengaluru: The police have arrested a total of 16 people in connection with the question paper leak of the Karnataka Public Service Commission’s (KPSC) First Division Assistant (FDA) exam.
Two arrests were made by the police on Monday. They are identified as KPSC employees Sana Bedi (25), a stenographer from the Belagavi district, and Ramesh Herakal (28), a second division assistant hailing from the Bagalkot district, according to a report by TOI.
The KPSC exam, which was supposed to have been held on January 24, was cancelled when the Commission found out about the question paper leak. The exam was to be conducted to fill 1,112 vacancies for the post of First Division Assistant. As many as 3.75 lakh aspirants from across the state had applied for the post.
On Sunday, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had said that there is a chance that the officials involved in the question paper leak may be dismissed from service. He added that stringent action will be initiated against all those involved.
Sana, according to the report, is one of five people who are authorised to access the KPSC recruitment question papers. On January 18, she allegedly passed the paper on to Ramesh when he requested her to help him clear the exam. The CCB police, however, have said that they do not yet know if Sana knew that the latter was selling copies of the question paper.
