Bengaluru: A secret report by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has pointed at a grim possibility of the coalition candidates winning in less than 14 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, which has a total of 28 seats.
This comes as a major cause of concern for the state Congress because the central leadership had given the state leaders a target of 20 seats.
It is now believed that the Congress leaders have blamed their coalition partner JDS for the setback.
In the report, the Congress leaders have said that the JDS activists ditched the party in the Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Bengaluru South, Bengaluru North and Mysuru Lok Sabha constituencies. “This means our win is expected to come down to 14 instead of 20,” they pointed out in the report.
The leaders also stated that their party activists didn’t support the JDS candidates in a few constituencies including Mandya, Hassan and Shivamogga, due to family politics.
“The report has concluded that the alliance with the JDS has not benefited the party at all,” said a leader.
