Bengaluru: Following the IT raids on JDS and Congress leaders in the state, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has, in a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), asked them to transfer Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and Director General (Investigation), B R Balakrishnan.
It can be recalled that the IT officials had raided the people close to Congress candidates S S Mallikarjun, Rizwan Arshad, Prakash Hukkeri and other JDS leaders like PWD minister H D Revanna and C S Puttaraju.
In the letter, they accused Balakrishnan of trying to “misuse his office” and alleged that the IT department targetted only the JDS and Congress workers to show that they alone have a surplus of funds.
Referring to Balakrishnan’s letter to the ECI, where he referred to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and the other leaders’ protest against the IT raids as “Mamata Banerjee tactics”, the KPCC said that his statement showed his hostility towards the state coalition government.
