Bengaluru: The Kodihalli police in Bengaluru rural district fired in the air to stop Jalli Kattu (Bull Taming) event which is banned in the state, on Karnataka-Tamil Nadu state border.

The police arrested three persons who tried to attack the police and organise the event forcefully.

According to the police sources, a group of people organised Jalli Kattu (Bull Taming) event on Sunday evening, at Hunasanahalli-Gollaradoddi village of Kanakapura taluk, but the police didn’t permit as it is banned.

Additional police personnel were sent to the village to ensure that the event will not be held.

However, a group of people from Tamil Nadu started pelting stones on the police. The Kodihalli police used tear gas to disperse the mob at first.

As the people continued to throw stones, police opened fire in the air.

Many police personnel were injured.

Senior police officers from the city rushed to the spot.
