Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology to go under scanner after corruption-charges crop up against Director

Bengaluru: Two days after protests in Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology of the city at the time of stone laying ceremony of Infosys Dharmachathra, which was attended by Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah, Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murthy, Medical Education minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil, the state government has announced investigation into all the allegations.Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology director accused of corruption-1According to a notification issued by the medical education department, vigilance cell of the department will hold the investigation.

It can be recalled that on Tuesday the members of the Bharatiya Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Vedike, comprising some doctors and other staff members of Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology held protest alleging that institute director K.B. Linge Gowda has indulged in large-scale corruption.

The vedike members, led by R. Vinay Kumar, Assistant Professor of Radiology in the institute, tried their best to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding a high-level inquiry against the director. However, the police stopped them from meeting Siddaramaiah.

Demanding the Chief Minister to take over the chairmanship of the Governing Council of the institute from Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash R. Patil, Dr. Vinay Kumar said that the director has been involved in various corruption cases, and 13 Lokayukta cases have been filed against him.
