Bengaluru: The state government has decided to buy 30 acres of land in Goa to rehabilitate 1,100 Kannadiga families, which were evicted from the Baina beach of Goa recently.

According to the decision taken by the state government, all the families will be given 20×30 site and financial assistance to build homes. An estimate of Rs 70 cr has been made to purchase the said area of land. The state government has taken this decision as the Goa government showed no interest in rehabilitating the distressed Kannadigas.

According to the government sources, rehabilitation work will be taken up through the Border Development Authority, a subsidiary of the state government.

It can be recalled that recently the Goa government had evicted 1,100 families from Baina beach accusing them of involving in anti-social activities.
