Bengaluru: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah, who is also the former state chief minister, announced that his party MLAs are not ready to attend a session with anti-national MLAs like the BJP’s Basanagowda Patil Yatnal.
In a series of tweets, he hinted that the party may boycott the entire session if the Speaker does not suspend Yatnal from the House.
“Doreswamy fought against Indira Gandhi when an emergency was imposed on the country. He fought against my government also. There is no meaning in restricting him to any single party,” he stated.
He also condemned the partisan attitude of Assembly Speaker Vishweshwara Hegade Kageri. “As per the MP high court ruling, an MLA who brings disrespect to the session can be suspended. Yatnal deserves to get suspended. We can’t share the seat with him who is an anti-national element,” he added.
He also took on the BJP ministers, saying that instead of condemning Yatnal’s statement, they too joined in an started attacking Doreswamy.
According to the Congress legislator, the party is likely to boycott the session if Yatnal does not apologise for his defamatory statements against the freedom fighter.
